About to leave

This blog will follow my adventures in Rome, Italy, and (possibly) other European countries as I spend this semester studying at John Cabot University in Rome. Normally, I study Biblical Archaeology at Wheaton College and I spent the past two summers digging in Israel at the The Leon Levy expedition to Ashkelon. While at the excavation I worked in grid 47 where we worked to understand Roman Ashkelon, specifically the area which John Garstang (an archaeologist from the early 20th century) believed to be a Basilica and which we were trying to understand in its various phases (Hellenistic, Basiclica, and then odeon?).

I've probably lost all of you who are not interested in such things, but the reason I discuss my two summers in Ashkelon is because they left me intrigued and excited to learn more about the Romans and Roman archaeology- and so I decided to study in ROME!

So this next semester I will update you as I study Archaeology, travel, and go on adventures (no doubt ending up in some tight situations as I seem to) while I  learn and live in the crazy country of Italy!
